When I was creating summer themed designs for one of my past internships, I came up with an idea to create a picture of a mermaid playing an accordion and have the picture be printed on a t-shirt. It was not until about a couple of years later when I pretty much got a chance to draw the mermaid, especially when there happens to be a thing going on during the month of May that is called Mermay where the month of May is given a theme that involves mermaids/merfolk. Pretty much not too long after learning about Mermay, I have been wanting to make at least one mermaid themed drawing for each month of May because I happen to like mermaids and I have been inspired by many great works of art made for Mermay by other artists. So, I ended up having my drawing idea of a mermaid playing an accordion be the drawing for Mermay one year.
