I have been wanting to get back into drawing fairies for Fairyuary (along with mermaids for Mermay after seeing some really neat mermaid-themed artwork) and I thought I would draw one offering a helping hand in the point-of-view of someone in need which could also work for Mental Health Month in May as well. I drew this new, kind fairy dressed in real emerald jewelry, along with both real and shiny emerald green colors, and created a woodsy theme for the background setting by using crayons most of the time, including some of the ones I got for Christmas one year. I also continued to practice incorporating light and shadow as I worked on this drawing (which kind of makes the fairy remind me of my pen and ink portrait drawing I made during my freshman year in high school (and I have had that drawing hung up in my house at/near the foyer since I got to take it home)) and attempted to draw realistic pine trees with just crayons. It was quite tricky to create the pine needles and branching sections of the trees, but adding on some pinecones helped make those trees look good enough to draw until my heart was content.
